Thank you for 51!
A newsletter milestone, plus quick thoughts on what it means for me to write.
In all my sporadic years of writing, I’ve never really gotten comfortable with calling the act thereof as creating something. It’s ultimately trivial to push this agenda, because by all definitions, one would consider writing as a subset of creation.
I guess for me, it boils down to preference. Every time I try to write something, I approach it more with the headspace of expression – channeling a part of myself in whatever it is I put on paper (well…in this case, on screen, but the former just sounds much more poetic). Rarely do I ever think of it as me creating something, because it feels inadequate to describe it as such without insinuating how much intention I try to put in to it as much as possible. Without intention, I find writing draining. I’d feel like I’m merely pumping words out there just cause. On a day and age where it gets tough discerning the lines between content made by soul vs. ones made by some underwater data center, doing so with expression and intention has become underlined.
And I think I’ll keep to this mindset, because it’s what made me appreciate to a higher degree a recent milestone that the newsletter just hit - 51 subscribers!
Putting things into perspective, I’m humbled and grateful to have all 51 of you take some time out for two cents that I could proudly call mine. And so from the bottom of this writer’s heart, I’d like to take this moment to thank you for sticking around! I can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciate this. Here’s to more frequent, intentional drops ✍️
